smoothie parts

I love smoothies! They are a great way to start the day. There are absolutely endless combinations of fruits and veggies that make great smoothies. The trick is finding the ones you love.

I wake up most days to a green juice or a green smoothie. They make it easy to get a jump start on your day. All those beautiful dark leafy greens provide a lot of nutrients and energy to help you get up and go. They also an easy and tasty way to get a raw meal in your day. If you are trying to add more raw foods or if you just want a yummy breakfast give this smoothie a try!

Good Morning Sunshine: Green Smoothie

  • 2 bananas: fresh or frozen
  • 2 oranges: peeled
  • 1 apple: quartered and cored
  • 2 cups spinach, kale, chard, or any combination of dark greens
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Almond Milk
  • 1/2 cup ice (optional)
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 – 2 Tablespoons chia seeds dry or soaked

Put almond milk and greens in your blender and blend until greens are smooth. If you have a high powered blender you can use full grown greens. If you have a less powerful blender it is easier to use baby greens. Once blended completely add the rest of your ingredients and blend really well until smooth and creamy. If you are using frozen bananas you can skip the ice. If using fresh bananas add the ice to make you smoothie cold.

Best served cold.

Makes one large or two small servings.
